Charta Fall Workshop 2000
Charta's Fall Workshop was held
at the Hebrew Home of Washington on October 18, 2000. Those in
attendance, approximately 33, were educated in the areas of ATRA
Legislation, ATRA's Public Policy, Therapeutic Clowning, and Animal
Assisted Therapy. At the General Membership Meeting at Noon the
membership voted to amend the Charta By-laws. Charta's membership
is now at 83! The new Board of Directors was introduced and accomplishments
made by Charta during the past year were presented.
A resounding theme came from this
workshop: Join your professional organization! A special request
was made for those who are not ATRA members to become ATRA members!
What ATRA has done since it's inception, 1984, is truly amazing!
And, you, as a recreation therapist benefit whether you are a
member or not! To encourage interest in ATRA, Charta sponsored
a raffle. Three dollars a ticket gave non-ATRA members a chance
to get a free membership for one year. We sold 22 tickets! We
had two winners!
The Charta Board will be meeting
soon to discuss where and when the next Charta Workshop will be
held. If your facility is interested in hosting a conference,
please contact Vanessa Roberts, Charta Program Chair at 703-207-7143
or by e-mail at vroberts@nvmhi.state.va.us.
